Question:

Am I The Only Person That Think Tim Has A Great Chance?

I think Sylvia has an awesome chance of beating Fedor. IMO Tim Sylvia is probably one of the most underrated fighters in all of MMA. Other then Semmy Schilt(who sucks at mma), Fedor has never fought a big man who has decent grappling skills. Tim can grapple well for his body type, and he knows how to utilize his reach. I think Tim is going to pose a great problem for Fedor and I wouldn't be surprised if he even lost the fight.

Then again. I think Fedor will probably win. I am just saying...Don't count on Tim.

What do you people think?

  1. Tim Sylvia has a great chance because he has great reach, takedown defense, has size, and is patient.  He needs to keep the jab working, avoid the ground, and try to grind out a decision win because he does not have devistating knockout power, outstanding submissions, nor does he have the ground and pound. Fedor has superb submission and I don't believe Sylvia has ever fought anyone who has a background in Sambo, but don't forget that Sylvia is a former 2 time UFC Heavyweight Champion. He has competed against some of the best recently like Randy Couture, Andrei Arlovski, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogoeria. Sylvia also is pretty lucky to have some of the best people in the world to train with at Miletich Fighting Systems in Iowa. His camp includes Pat Miletich, Spencer Fisher, Jens Pulver, Corey Hill, and Drew McFedries even though they're all smaller than him or Fedor. Sylvia is finally healthy and can go the distance. He'll have to keep it "boring" to win. A win is a win even if it is boring.

  2. I said something very similar not too long ago... http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...

Tim Sylvia has a major disadvantage though.  It is much, much harder to find training partners that are Fedor's style and like Fedor.  Fedor will have a much easier time finding a training partner like Tim.

  3. Randy Couture completely dominated Tim Sylvia in stand-up striking and with ground and pound.  Fedor is WAY better than Randy at both stand-up and ground and pound.

Sylvia is a good grappler?  Since when?  I saw no evidence of that against Randy.

Fedor has never fought big men who were good grapplers?  What about Kevin Randleman and Mark Coleman?  Both are easily as strong as Sylvia, if not as tall, and both are way better on the ground.

Fedor has beaten much bigger guys than Tim Sylvia.  He has beaten world class grapplers.  He has beaten world class strikers.

I really don't see how Sylvia stands a chance.

  4. I give him a great shot. my coach is calling for an up set and I think he may pull it off and will not be surprised either way.

I want to argue with alex

we will not know if Couture is better than Randy till they fight. also Tim had three ruptured discs in his back that required surgery after the fight. Rany killed Kevin Randle man too. Randy is the best Greco guy in mma he can take down anybody. Tim is a good grappler. Jeff monson had Tim on his back twice what did tim do tried to submit him and almost did from top and bottom.

now I will argue with timothy. silvia has one punch power. he ko'd gan mcgee with a right hook and alofski in the second fight. he ko'd ricco rodriguez with one clean punch and tra tellingmen with a head kick. if that Sylvia shows up Fedor could wake with a terrible head ache

  5. Tims going to be send fedors jaw back to mother russia with putin

  6. He has a chance, but Tim's grappling and takedown defense is based on traditional wrestling, when have you EVER seen Fedor shoot in?  Tim likes to clinch and wear guys down from there and clinching Fedor falls right into his Sambo, where he is the best in the world.  I think the fact that Fedor is much better all around, quicker, has insane transitions, and just is relentless in his striking attack that he will push Tim to exhaustion and submit him.

Yes, Monson is a very good grappler but once again Traditional wrestling is his base.  Nog has horrible takedowns but even he eventually got Tim down.

  7. OMG,  Tim....grappling skills....are you kidding me???  Dude, this is a 0% chance and once you see Fedor get right inside of Tim and trip him down you will see the sub. not far behind it.  Fedor is not going to mess around with a 7' monster, he is going to do what he does best...take down and submit.
