Hey there,

Ive been with the GOP for a fair while now, Although Ive never thought about whether im a Libertarian (LIBT), Conservative (CONS) or a Conservative-Libertarian within the party.

Below are my political positions, I was hoping you could throw your thoughts at it.

FOREIGN POLICY

I do not agree with the LIBT idea of Non-Intervention. I believe in a strong national defense but I also oppose "Nation building"

INTL ORG's

I agree with the LIBT idea of withdrawing from orgs that limit national sovereignty. eg UN and ICC

IMMIGRATION

Im actually pretty liberal on this. I believe that illegal immigrants without a criminal record should be given pathway to citizenship.

But I also believe in STRONG border security. ie: NAT GUARD at the border.

ECONOMY

I agree with the LIBT idea of extreme fiscal-conservatism as supposed to the more moderate GOP one.

I do not believe in social security or a welfare state

  1. you are more republican than libertarian. I'm more libertarian than republican, but I tend to vote republican. The social agenda is where the republicans and I part ways. I don't like being told what movies I can't see, and which video games I can play. If a couple of homos want to get married, it doesn't affect me so I don't care. If a person wants to sit at home and smoke weed, snort coke, or shoot heroin, I don't care either, as long as he or she doesn't anything from me when he or she can't pay their bills. I got no problem legalizing drugs, as long as we drug test welfare recipents and deny them any benefits if they test positive.

  2. You are a neo-conservative who does not really believe in small government at all..  For instance, intervention in other countries is not national defense.  Places like the U.N. are much better theaters for international crisis management than theaters of war.  Unsing the National Guard to protect borders is a misuse of the military and would be an extremely expensive undertaking.  Habeus corpus for detainees at Gitmo could have been solved yearsa ago by simply declaring those people POW's and treating them humanely.  Otherwise they fall under the law of the detaining authority and have constitutional rights like anyone else accused of a crime.  You are like many other "conservatives'.  You want things you cannot have or afford with limited and fiscally responsible governance.

  3. It's really hard to say you are strictly libertarian or strictly conservative because of all the beliefs. It sounds to me like your a Conservative-Libertarian.

  4. You sound like you have a mind of your own. s***w labels.

  5. You're a hybrid: conservative with libertarian leanings.

I urge you to think through your position on foreign policy:  when should the US intervene in other countries?  Is foreign aid necessary?  Is it OK to have military bases in 130 countries?  How much is it worth it to spend so much on interventionism?

Also rethink the "War on Drugs" and examine the results as well as the pros and cons of legalization and the failed alcohol prohibition policy.

I understand having some moral objections to social issues:  but should the government/state dictate the private behavior of individuals?  How should that be enforced if you think that?

Finally, rethink the concept of how much control government should have in our lives.  If you could grade the government on efficiency and results, how do you think it scores on major issues? Is it really doing that well or doing well at something at a reasonable cost?  Could things be handled better privately?  How many government agencies do you really think are doing a great job?

I guess you get the picture, but it looks like it wouldn't take much for you to convert to libertarianism.

  6. Wake up, its all a corporate puppet show you moron, you can't change what is fixed and rigged!

  7. Traditionally, libertarians are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. They feel the government should stay out of people's business regardless. You don't seem to fit that bill. As a fiscal and social conservative, I would say you are a conservative republican. That doesn't mean you follow the party line, but that's where you fit best.

FYI: I disagree with just about all of your positions. I am a liberal democrat and proud of it. Have a nice day.

  8. Well, you sound pretty self involved and intolerant, so either party will have you. Both parties revolve around selfishness and ignore the concept of societal contract.

I assume that you will join the national guard to secure the border and adopt or help place those children that you want to see born...no? You just want to inflict the work and responsibilities inherent in your views on others? That would probably keep you in the GOP, the party that likes to see "other"people do the work.Let's just hope the ground underneath you never ever shifts and you never need aid of any sort.
