Am I a bad owner for this?

Question

My cat is out of food and I'm completely broke. All I can give her right now is Wheaties and her cat snacks and she won't eat either of those. She's just staring at me because she wants her usual cat food but I don't have the money to get it for her until tonight.

She ran out of cat food yesterday evening. She's not going to die is she? I feel like scum.

don't worry she won't die of hunger after 1 day the best thing you can do if you absolutely can get any food is to distract her by playing with her and petting her. try to make her forget about being hungry until you can get food that she will eat.

You can usually pick up a can of cat food for under fifty cents in a grocery store...if you can't find that much, and this happens more than once in a blue moon, you better find a second job (seriously) or a better paying job to supplement the care of your cat....figure out how many cans of food you'll need for the pay period, and buy that much ahead of time when you get your paycheck...that way it will be enough for that time until you get paid again!!

Your cat will be fine for one day. Do you have any fresh meats you could offer though? or canned Tuna? Spam? Wheaties really aren't ok for a cat to eat.

Your local Humane Society will give you a bag of food if you tell them your situation.

there are many cheap cat foods.  Fancy feast is like 79 cents.  You need to figure out how to buy some food.  You can not give it what you have said.  If you can't afford to feed, you need to find someone who will take her or you need to find a no-kill shelter that will take her.  You need to make sure she does not go for days without eating.  That is not good, die - no, good - no.  Please find a way to get her food, or find her another home.

Go to your local dollar store. I'm sure you can scrounge up a few quarters. They have pet food there to tide your cat over until you can get some food.

If you have any lean unseasoned meat, give her a bit of that. Cat snack contain lots of fat and aren't good to use for meals. Wheaties will cause her to have gas and tummy upset. If you can scrounge up 50 cents, you can buy a can of cat food at the store.  Try to have an emergency can or two of canned food stashed in the cabinet from now on.  We've all run out before, just try to keep it from becoming habit.

Meg open up a can of Tuna, if you have any. And give her some of that, and no your cat will be fine. As long as she has water she can wait till tonight, when you get paid. Next time you hit the store, pick up the odd can of Tuna and hid it in the back of your cupboard. So if this does happen again, you'll have something to feed her with.

Well are you a bad owner: No. But your not responsible. if you dont feed it then yes you would be. She will not die though but feed her ASAP! What are you eating though? I would feed her anything else besides wheaties! get nutrition in her! But i am woried about you. You need to eat too. Whats your...job? Do you have one? If you dont then whos is payin you for food? I would borrow money from your neighbor until u get a job then pay them back.

Don't worry she will be fine. Make sure you have water out for her in case she gets thirsty. I would also suggest getting some dry cat food to leave out all the time for her. You can buy that stuff cheap. Cheaper then the moist food. If you are broke and can't afford food. Call your local SPCA. (animal shelter) People can go in there and get a free 20 pound bag of food for there animals.

If you keep feeding her some of your snacks then she could get sick after a while, but if you saved up some money then I guarantee that you could have enough money to buy her more cat food!

She will be fine until tonight without food (she had food last night right?)  Don't feed her wheaties they have no nutritional value for her cats can really only get nutrition from meat based sources.

but she will be just fine until tonight,animals can go about 3 days with no food.(no saying they should)but if you can dig up some change maybe you can run to dollar tree and pick some up.or tuna always makes them happy!

she wont die as a matter of fact if you fed her last night she is ok my cats had surgery yesterday and the vet told me not to feed them after 10 pm and they did not eat anything until this morning about 7 or so if all else fails call a neighbor see if you can barrow a cup or two of cat food and like you have been told before go to your local dollar store and buy a cheep bag when you have the money just to keep on had in times like this it may not be her normal brand but if she gets hungry enough she WILL eat it and if it sits there too long just start to mix a cup of the cheep stuff with her normal brand no need to feel like a scum it happens to the best of us
