Am I a bad person????????????

I don't want my dad to visit me at school because he is an alcoholic. I might be embarrased easily because he curses and makes inappropriate comments. Also he gets angry easily and makes yells at others. I love him but I don't want him around my friends and workmates at his state. Am I a bad person that I don't want him to visit me?

  3. No! Not at all! You're human! No one wants to be embarrassed like that especially by parents.

    You Dad sounds like he needs to grow up and get his act together!  He should be ashamed of himself..

    He needs help, but trouble is with addictions, they find it too easy not to help themselves.

    Tell him how he is making you feel.  Maybe also tell a teacher or school counsellor.  They could work through it with you both.

    It has NOTHING to do with you...Why is his behaviour your fault?

  5. h**l no, you have to stay and deal with the after effects when he is gone.  Explain to him that your busy schedule prevents you from spending time with him and that you would hate for him to be there wasting time trying to see you.

  6. your sense of belonging like all of us is tied up with family and friends....thats normal....as we mature we sift through circumstances in life and based on the best moral value system we have we make decisions on what to do and how to act...we realize that we ourselves have problems to work on and when others minimize our faults out of love...we find strength in that; so likewise your fathers problem of drinking IS NOT YOUR FAULT....but because you find yourself in that situation you need to put on a strong face for your dad...tell him you love him and always will but patiently tell him of his inappropiate comments and how it makes you feel and how it alleignates you and others from him...be patient...he no doubt has alot of pain he is trying to bury with booze........BUT DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT NOT WANTING YOUR DAD TO VISIT......you are doing fine girl...be strong and dont blame yourself and dont carry too much of others burdens on your back...the load is too heavy
