Question:

Am I a good weight for my age and height? Please Help!?

I'm around 5ft 4, 7 stone (around 95-98 pounds) and 14 years old - should I lose a bit of weight? I seemed to gain half a stone in a short space of time - any ideas on how to lose some weight?

  1. No, working it out medically you're about a stone underweight.

    At the moment, you have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of just under 17, wheras you need to be around 20.  To do this, your weight would need to be about 120 lbs.

    Heres a link to a website where I've calculated your BMI (body mass index) which calculates if you are underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese by looking proportionally at your height&weight.

    Underweight = <18.5

    Normal weight = 18.5-24.9

    Overweight = 25-29.9

    Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

    This is to guide to follow when calculating BMI, and your BMI is 16.8 and you it should be at least 18.5 so you are actually underweight.

    Don't worry though, becuase everyone is developing now so your body just has to catch up with you.

  5. don't worry so much about your weight hun , just try to eat healthily but don't starve yourself as that is not good for you either just be yourself and enjoy life with respect and by the way you sound about to me my husband is a doctor and says you are right for your height and age you are still growing have fun

    Im only slightly underweight so i think you should be about right, teenagers never have a constant weight unfortunatly

  7. You really don't need to worry about your weight! Your perfect. I'm a 14 year old girl too, and i'm bigger than that, but i guess i've always been bigger and im just naturally bigger.

    But you really don't need to lose any weigh and please don't worry about it..i've always thought i needed to lose weight but i dont worry about it i just try and eat healthier.

    if you are really concerned about it, then talk to your parents or just try eating healthier/excersising more. do NOT starve yourself, pleeeeease!
