I was thinking about the hippies from the 60's and 70's, and I was just wondering if I would be considered a modern day hippie. I consider myself a a progressive Liberal, and I believe in all the things Liberals believe in. (I don't feel like listing them.) and I believe that the government is corrupt and no longer serves for the American people, I also Listen to older music, like the Beatles the rolling stones and the such. I am strongly against the war, and I feel it was an imperialistic action against a non-aggressive nation. I don't exactly dress like the typical hippie, but I would not deny having smoke pot. And I am very much against the fascist hate groups such as the neo-n***s, and the KKK that plague this country.

So yahoo, would you consider me a modern day hippie?

thanks.

  1. No, because you posted this question. Hippies don't wonder whether they're a hippie or not. They are what they are.

  2. Yes and no.  Much of what you said would have fit the criteria for the hippie ideology.  However, the hippie "philosophy"  changed over time. What began as ideological and with some accepted principles rapidly deteriorated into the drug using; "whatever feels good -do it"; hedonism and the later members recognized no real principles except hedonism.  So you sound like you represent the "higher ground" of hippiedom.
