Am I a sucker and being foolish!?

is it true when a man likes, loves or has feelings for you he can be horrible, mean and nasty. Or am I being a naive fool? I was talking to a guy I used to see, today and after a long argument, he who used to be particularly mean to me often for no reason! admitted today that it was cos he was in love with me and was nasty cos he didnt want to be in love with me!?!? he was a player and said it was because he had too many women around him and wasnt ready to settle down back then! and didnt want to fall in love. Anyone understand this behaviour or care to shed some light!!??! he said he would treat me completely different if he had another chance, but he said hes lost me and has to get over me? I said ''you only lose something if it wasnt important to you in the first place'' he said ''no you are important to me!

He is fooling himself and trying to fool you.  Once he wins you over he will be on to the next challenge.

yeah.. i remember at school this boy who his friend said liked me  kept flinging stuff at me slyly and him his friend would make me think that it was coming from nowhere but then he knew i spotted him so they would come out of the building to try and get but yeah they do it because they like you!
