I mean, I'd never take anything right out of a store, but ...

All of my shampoos are from Marriott and Renaissance hotels (and some from Holland America Cruises)

I have 2 pairs of nice slippers from the Marriott

Most of my towels are from Marriotts and Renaissances

I have over 50 jams/jellies from Marriotts and Renaissances

None of these were ever paid for. I mean, the shampoos, they don't care if you take them from the room, but sometimes I take extras from the carts, because the shampoo quality is great, and I don't feel like paying for something that I can get for free.

Slippers-No big deal, only 2 pairs and those hotels would've charged me if it was against the rules, I think that they only charge you for the robes

Towels-No technical rule on this, I think that it's okay

jams/jellies-again, no technical rule, I think that it's okay to take a few

one time on a cruise, though, i was taking teas for home, (only like 20-30) and this guy told me "NOOO, you don't take them, only take a few", and I don't see the big deal. I would've used them, and I didn't see a sign that had the limit.

but, once someone said to me after I told them that I take towels that "That's where the negative stereotypes about Jewish people come from, from Jews like you" and I was starting to rethink this taking things from hotels.

  1. if you're getting away with it, why not?

    hahahah

really though, its not a big deal. they have plenty of others and I'm SURE you aren't the only one who does this. towels and slippers can be a bit much but its not a big deal at all.

  2. As much as a disagree with saying hurtful/racist remarks. This person who sad that comment about negative stereotypes did have a point. There must be a reason that the stereotype about Jewish people isn't that they are athletic, it's that they are cheap.

Taking shampoo/soap. - whatever. i think you can take the ones in your room, but once you start taking them in bulk off of the cart, it's stealing!!

    slippers/towels- totally stealing

jam/jelly 20 or 30 teas?!?!- ridiculous. if you're poor, i can almost justify it. but you are in hotels and on cruises all the time apparently, so money obviously isn't a problem. (please excuse the expression, but I think it works here. You're just jewish! Get a life. stop stealing you mooch.

  3. Yes, you are a thief.  Taking a shampoo from a hotel room or a soap that you've already used and they will just throw away anyway is not stealing but taking towels is.  While you are at it, why don't you steal the sheets and blankets from the bed as well?  Maybe there is also a nice lamp in there you can take.  You see what I mean?

Being a hog at a buffet is a bit more iffy but generally you paid for what you eat, you are not expected to clean them out so you can have years worth of free tea and jelly.  If everybody was like you, there would not be any buffets.

  4. It's ok with me.

  5. hmmmm. i guess that is ok. but i agree with that one guy, put a limit on what you take since those where not placed there just for you, they are for everyone.

  6. you should tell that at parties

  7. you're not a thief...

    just a moocher

  8. A thief is a thief!

  9. I wouldn't sweat it, not like you're gonna cause them to file bankruptcy. Most of that stuff they end up throwing out anyways, or the staff ends up with it. Like they recycle those slippers from guest to guest. Would cost more to disinfect than replace.

Of course it's not like that stuff really cost them that much anyways, not like they don't profit handsomely from the services they provide in the first place.

  10. Am sorry, you are a thief. You don't take towels and slippers from hotels or cruises.
