Am I able to extend my departure date with no charge?

I am supposed to leave where Im at, to go back to where I live.. but something came up. Am I able to extend my departure day to a later date free of charge, or will I have to pay a fee or anything??

  1. If you are flying on a nonrefundable ticket (and you probably are unless it is very expensive), then it will almost certainly cost some money. There will be a ticket exchange fee plus you will be charged any difference in the fare. The number of discount seats per flight is limited, so this can get quite expensive if the discount seats are sold out for your new date.

    You will have to call the airline to obtain the exact amount.

    Sorry, but the cheapest fares come with the most rules and restrictions. Only the most expensive fares can be changed easily and without exchange fees.


  2. Depends on the restrictions placed upon the ticket you bought, certain full-fare and less restricted tickets can be rescheduled for little or no charge. Heavily discounted tickets usually will involve a penalty or fee to change the booking. Only your airline can tell you whether you'll have to pay or not. If you see a fare class indicated on your ticket, normally a "y" or "b" class ticket are the most flexible, but can vary from airline to airline.
