Am I able to get a cell phone with Verizon Wireless? I'm 18. ?

my mom thinks it would be a good idea for me to try to build credit I guess by getting a cell phone in my name. I'm 18 and I have a credit card which I use and pay the full balance at the end of the month. I've done that one time since I have only gotten one bill so far. Will it be possible for me to get a cell phone with verizon without having to pay a deposit? What determines if you have to pay a deposit? Thanks!
