I want to become an insurance agent. I know i need the 6 and 63 licensing and I want to go ahead and take the test now. However, I am not sure if the licenses are accepted in every state. I guess I am trying to get ahead and get licensed while I get my finances in order.

  1. The tests are different in each state, and you need a sponsoring company to even take the test.

  2. You need a sponsor for the series 6 and 63. These are FINRA exams. The states regulate insurance and exams vary state to state. The federal exams allow you to sell mutual funds and DPPs in any state.

  3. Depends on what your state your in.

  4. I did ser 7 and 63..had to be sponcered by the company...............I was good in all 50 states,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  5. I don't have my series 6 license, but I am pretty sure you need a sponsoring company, the same as when you get P&C, L&H etc. Call your state department of insurance to find out.
