I brought wildflower seeds back from Switzerland to the US.

It depends on where you're going.  If it's an international flight I wouldn't do it.  If it's a domestic flight it may be ok unless you're flying between the mainland and Hawaii.  Hawaii has a very sensitive ecosystem and you are not allowed to bring in certain organic materials.
