  1. Probably.

Once I was hitch hiking and a cop picked me up but just drove me to my destination.

and hitch hiking is illegal in California.

    He was nice haha.

  2. He probably needs to get permission from his superior first.  Most police agencies are willing to arrange ride alongs with their officers.

  3. Most agency's have a written policy on who can take ride-a-longs with another officer. It must be approved by the Chief or Sheriff and a wavier signed so you cannot sue the agency incase of an accident. You must 18 in most agency's but ever department has their on policy.

  4. Many police agencies has a "ride-along" policy.  You should check with your local police agency to see what their policy is.  As a rule, no unauthorized person is allowed to ride in a patrol car.

  5. Tell him to ask his boss if he can take you on a tour! He probably has to ask first

  6. Of course.  Ride-alongs are permitted and encouraged.  There are many people on this forum that need to do a ride along and get the real idea of what cops do every day.
