Since the age of 4 i have owned a pet. 1 black cat that i loved for years (he ran away came back and ran away never to return)

Age 12 I had a German Sheppard I loved him too until he kept jumping on me every time I would come out to play with him and he bit me once (drawing blood) just being playful. I was quite petite back then and I knew he had the power to knock me down in the mud (he did that to my mom lol) and I stopped going outside to play with him. (looking back that was very sad but I was a self centered teen).

At 15 i got two hampters, they were lots of fun. until the cage started stinking. I HATED cleaning the cage. When my step dad told me I was going to go to school smelling like rat poo I got rid of them in the woods. (then I felt bad about it and went back to find them. I could only find one).

At 23 my husband bought me another set of hampsters, they were lots of fun too but the cage funk was getting out of hand. I wanted them to die. but, trying to be responsible i kept them until they died (well one mysteriously escaped I think into the trash can and we dumped the trash not knowing he was in there).

now at 29 i got a dog a bassett hound. I was tired of looking for dogs so i figured why not this one he looked lazy but happy and I was sold. then I wouldn't have to make trips to the spca every friday or look on petfinders for a small dog. i like my dog. He is nice and lazy. He is really sweet a little bit too stubborn for my taste but i overlook that. the only thing I really don't like is that he STINKS to high heavens! He won't stop shedding. And he apparently he was raised as an indoor dog previously because he howls if you leave him out there for 5 minutes. ( I live in the city so i can't have him howling outside). I am not a country girl but my people are farm people so I am used to dogs being outside. I like small dogs inside but I don't like the hair thing. My husband says I should just give up on finding a good animal that i like. I am going to keep my dog, despite his stink, excessive fur shedding, and DROOL. btw this dog drools really hard when ever i sit down to eat then he shakes him self flinging drool AGGGHHHHH! to me its akin to a bum masturbating over my food just GROSS. so i put him out during dinner time. I do like that he has a good hardy bark and he follows my commands and he is always happy and wagging his tail. it feels good to come home to the dog, until i see the fur i have to clean up or smell his stinch. :( am I hopeless?

  1. I would say don't get any more pets.

  2. Your an animal tolerator.. Animal lovers still get annoyed by things like smell and shedding fur, but, it would never make an animal lover consider getting rid of a pet.. It's just one more reason to end up running the vacuum everyday.

Not everyone is a pet person, that's perfectly normal. I almost think you have to be born like that. If your husband loves pets, then, for his sake you may have to always tolerate having an animal around. But, I don't think you should get another pet for yourself as you don't let yourself really fall in love with them..

  3. Your only problem is you don't research before you buy a pet. If you research, then you know what you are getting into and you know whether it's the right pet for you or not.

If you had researched on the hamsters you'd kow they are quite stinky. They can not survive in the wild either, they are DOMESTICATED,so don't ever do that again.

If you had researched on dogs you would know that if you get a large dog(german shepard) they will jump on you. If you had researched on bassetts, you'd know they shed, and that most HOUND dogs have a problem with...drooling.

I would recommend something more like a poodle or a maltese. they don't shed hardly at all, and they don't drool and they are very clean dogs.

You're not hopeless, you just need to take the proper precautions before getting a pet to know if you will regret the decision later on.

I hope I helped and good luck with your next pet!
