Am I anorexic or just....?

Sometimes I only eat 350 calories a day. I'll just have some ramen and a few cups of juice. I'm not even hungry. I'll go a few days like this then I'll eat a lot. I have lost 2 inches off my waist but I really don't mean to eat like this.

My sister calls me anorexic but I weight 143 pounds!

Am I anorexic or do I just have weird eating habits?

  1. I understand this question completely. I too do not eat a lot. I just am not hungry! When I am hungry though, I try and eat as healthy as I can so that I get all the nutrients my body needs. Ramen noodles and juice are not giving you the nutrition your body needs. Snack on fruits and veggies even when you aren't that hungry. Even if you don't eat a lot, you can eat stuff that will be good for you


  2. You are starving yourself...accidentally. But subconsciously, you are probably doing it on purpose to lose inches off your waist (why else would you measure it?).

    Why are you eating only cupped noodles????? Foods is one of life's greatest pleasures. Eat up!! (ice cream, peanut butter jelly sandwiches, etc). Just exercise after this.

It depends on how long you've been eating like this, and how many calories you eat when you eat a lot.  Anorexia (though there is a weight factor in the diagnostic criteria) is more of a behavior than a state of being or a number on the scale.  Do you obsess about weight and food?  How much of your day consists of planning meals or exercise or thinking about it?

    It certainly sounds like a binge-fasting pattern to me - because it is disorded eating if you will go for a few days on 350 calories - though it doesn't necessarily mean you have a full-blown eating disorder.  Does it cause you other problems?  I'd ask a doctor about this before it becomes more of an issue.

    I also wonder about your knowing you've eaten only 350 calories.  Do you keep track every day or shoot for a certain goal?  Are you really not trying to lose weight?  Either way, I'd err on the side of caution and tell someone as much as you can about your eating habits and what you think about your body image and rituals you may have ASAP, even if only to tell them they have nothing to worry about if that's the case.  If other people are concerned about you, at least get it checked out.

  4. i go through the same sometimes i will eat alot in one day and then a day or so with eating at all or jus very little...NO!!! it don mean that ur anorexic like u said u just have some weird eating habits

  6. i think its just weird eating habits..cause you dont really mean to do that..and im pretty sure you dont want to lose so much weight..

    but try eating a bit more than that so your body gets enough nutrients

  7. it probably started off as a weird eating habit but nobody can live off 350 calories a day. that's nothing. so yes you do have anorexia. you need to go to a hospital
