Question:

Am I athletic or not?

I exercise almost every day. Now I can do 200 and more repeatings of exercises for the stomach muscles. I started these exercises a couple of years ago. I also run sometimes (not fast), but I have to stop now, because of pain in the knee.

When I had a gym class last time, we did a test (it included running, jumping, etc...) But why am I slow? There were other people, not very athletic and they had higher score. Is this true or not? Is it really possible to be slowlier than someone, wno doesn't exercise or there is something wrong with the results?

  1. Seen this many times ......you might be in good muscle tone shape but in poor aerobic shape.  Someone might appear that they won't be in shape, but they may surprise you and be in much better shape.  Plus if they have god given talent it doesn't always prevail, but it will make a difference.  As a runner I use to see people who I thought were going to be "fast" at a race and it turned out I was totally wrong.  I don't do this any more, the old "don't judge a book by it's cover"!!  Hope this answered your ?

  2. yeah your athletic  and  i have to say that your in great shape i wish  that i could be the same exercises like you think way i could make my wrestling team

  3. There were a lot of questions in there...

Why are you slow? If all you do is abs exercises now, then there's no reason to think that you can run fast and it's not surprising at all that someone who doesn't work out could run quite a bit faster than you.

Is it true? If other people got better fitness scores than you, then those people are, by some scientific assessment, more fit than you.

Is it possible? Yes. Some people just have a lot more natural athletic ability than others.

  4. You're probably in good shape, just not fast. That could have to do with your genetics or leg strength. You said your stomach muscles are strong, but if your leg muscles aren't, running won't be one of your strengths

  5. when i was in school between the ages of 14-18 i was a passionate cyclist.i trained constantly, but my friend who was a smoker and drinker, used to beat me "nearly" always.

    why?,because he was naturally stronger.

but?,in time because of his lifestyle he dropped off altogether.

i think maybe you need to research your training for better performance.I'm sure you know a lightweight boxer, would beat a bodybuilder.

find and focus on what you need to do to increase your speed.

maybe you just need new training shoes to prevent knee pain,or spend a little time lifting weights to increase muscle strenght.

experiment, keep notes and find what help/hinders.

    hope this helps.

  6. In my opinion, you are only an Athlete when you compete in the particular sport., but some people's optimum performance is different to others, even if you train., but for all you know, it could have just been a bad day -

    Hope this helps,

  7. Well you're probably slow because of your pace. And what does stomach muscles have to do with running. You got to practice jogging. And your kind of athletic. (By the way it's not all stomach muscles)
