Question:

Am I been too sensitive about real life horror stories? How do I keep my emotions at bay? ?

I have stopped watching the news and listening to radio news when they report someone being killed or abused. I just don't seem to be taking it very well lately. I get very very upset, and it takes me a while to get over it.

Do you think I let other people's emotions too close to my heart? I almost feel like I need to be stronger in regards to these kind of happenings. What should I do. How do I draw an emotional barrier? Does anyone feel like I do?

  1. You need to take it to the lord nothing is to big or to much for God

Get in his word and he will change you.

  2. youre a woman, you tend to be more sensitive than men,and you personally, might be a very sensitive person too, that could explain it...dont worry,it happens to so much people,my mom does too,she over reacts when she listen those news too...i just do react to unfair facts...

  3. It means that you are a soft hearted person who has real empathy for others. Certainly not a bad quality!  It can be tough to be a deep feeler, but we need people in the world who actually care about others. However, feeling "deeply" can be emotionally draining, and tiring, and sometimes kind people are preyed on by others who turn out not to be so kind. Look up "shielding". You can ignore the new age-y stuff that comes up with it sometimes, if you want. I am also naturally a bit too empathic for my own good, and over the years I discovered (and finally accepted) that I require a lot of down time, with no drama (if possible) and alone time, just like I require food or sleep. That is what recharges me. Writing in a journal, in my opinion, is always good therapy.

  4. Oh no when I hear about killings or abuse or kidnapped.  I always cry.  It just gets to me.  Expecially when like one of the family members are on the news about to cry or are crying too.  Its just the way we are:)  God bless!

  5. I'm like that.  I consider myself to be extra sensitive in every way.  You have many choices of what to surround your life with.  You don't have to watch the new, you can do yoga, and read, and listen to music etc.

I personally have to see a therapist and a psychiatrist for anxiety and depression.  I don't know you well enough to recommend that.  They are there to help.

  6. Some people are more emotional than others.  It is part of their personality.  I think you are just fine.  Its good to be able to express your emotions as long as it does not interfier with your life.  Some people are stoic and to not respond to things that should stir their emotions. Most of us are somewhere in between.  Showing your emotion is better than not having emotion.
