Question:

Am I being a mean sister?

My brother asked me for my spare DVD player that cost all of 40.00. I kept forgetting to bring it to him. During this time I found out that he had some girlfriend and was paying 600.00 phone bills, buying her kid diapers and food, and bought her a bunch jewelry. After she bled him dry, she dumped him. He was also disrespecting our mother by sleeping with the girl in my mother's house and being really loud about it. He hasn't been helping out our grandmother....ugh he's just messing up.

I told him that if can take care of a grown woman then he can buy a DVD player, and that he is not getting mine.

My mother said I was being harsh but I don't think so. What do you think?

  1. It doesn't matter what I think because it's not my DVD player; it's yours. Your property; your rules.

  2. You should do everything you can for your poor brother.

  3. You are linking two unrelated issues, which is easy to do when you feel emotional about something.  But it is not logical.  Please sort this out and take the DVD player out of the mix.

  4. No, I definitely agree with  you.

  5. I totally agree with you. You did the right thing and I probably would of done something worse than just not let him have my DVD player. One day he will look back and realize it's for the right reasons and thank you.

  6. i don't think you were being harsh

  7. I think he was trying to be a dad and a responsible man for a woman and a child who haven't experienced that.  I think he is naive- but I think, as his sister you should be more understanding and give him the d**n dvd player!  I know you don't think it's about what he asked for, but it is in all honesty.  He asked you for a favor.  What if you were in HER shoes?  Wouldn't a guy like that mean something to you?  Just because she's a hooch who doesn't see a good guy when he comes up and smacks her in the face doesn't mean it is his fault.  He needs you right now for more than a dvd player.  He needs your support because he has to eat his words and swallow his pride.  Do you think that feels good?  No...

  8. I am glad she is not in his life anymore!  A dvd player is only one thing, you should warn him about the danger of gold digging women.
