Question:

Am I being to pricey when I babysit?

I charge $5 for 1 child, $10 for 2, and $15 for 3 and more per day. (yes, day.) All ages.

I charge $1 more per child if it's for more than 24 hours.

I'm 12 years old, and excellent with children.

My mother owned a daycare for about 6 years. I also know CPR.

Is this too much or not enough to charge while babysitting?

Feedback would be great, because I'm trying to raise $1500 for the end of summer to get a silver trumpet.

I'm not sure if I'm being fair for the people I babysit for, though.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer this. =)

  1. no, that is extremely fair!

p.s. what do you mean weird al can't sing live? have you been to one of his concerts? I have. and i disagree. If anything, it's better live.

  2. First off, how long are you babysitting for?

    Who is providing the meals?

If you are only charging $5 A DAY for 1 child, then you are not charging enough!!! I babysit and for 1 child, I charge $80 a week.. well, 5 days (mon-fri) .....so that is $16 a day. I provide meals...and I am a cheap babysitter.. daycares here charge $99 plus per child Mon- Fri

Also, you are 12 yrs old and babysitting?? Does someone help you? Here where I live you have to be 14 to babysit.....especially if its more than 24 hours.

  3. I think that's fine. Especially if the parents are willing to pay it. When I was a teenager I used to get 13 dollars an hour for one kid. But I didn't make that rate up the mom did.

Ps I'm sure you are doing a great job and I really hope you earn your silver trumpet :)

  4. tell them 2 give u what they feel you should have, last person i told that to i got 50 dollars, i was like dam

  5. I baby sit one 5 year old for 8 hours a day and make $20 a day. I watch him 2 or 3 days a week. I think you should charge more. I would charge $15 a day for one and each additional only 2 or 3 more per child. But I agree with the girl that said you should let them pay you I sat for a family with 3 kids and they paid $15 a hour for there 3. I loved watching there kids. In fact I watched them until I get pregnant with my second child.

  6. no you are actually much cheaper than a daycare center.......dont let anyone convince you that you are charging too much cuz they are just trying to manipulate you cuz ur young. But take good care of those kids when you have them. Accidents happen easily with small kids.

  7. If you ask me, you are not "pricey" enough...I sit for a living, and I charge 75 a week for potty trained children and 85 a week for non potty trained children...this is the going rate around here in KY, I don't know what state you live in...Believe me, if parents want the personal one on one care you can give, they will pay...do you have a babysitting certificate from the Red Cross? Are you legally old enough to care for minors, while still a minor yourself? Good luck with the trumpet!
