Question:

Am I being too picky???

My husband and I finally received our wedding video on Saturday (it took over 2 months to get) we sat down to watch it and were in just disbelief over the video. During the ceremony the audio and the video are about 1/2 to a full second off which makes us look like a bad Japanese movie. The music selection he chose to place over the cocktail hour was horrible elevator music. The video and Audio skipped in certain places. The best man's speech/toast was cut off, there were awkward transitions all over the place and the kicker was the ending scene that we had specifically asked for was not done correctly and looks terrible.

I'm not sure what to do. It isn't like we hired an amateur. They were supposed to be doing this for over 12 years and we paid $1,000.00 for this company to film and make our DVD. We had no say in the editing process - he didn't even ask us what kind of music we liked to help him make the selections for the DVD. HAs this happened to anyone else, or what do I do now? He gave us the final product will all 4 copies do I give them back and have him fix it, ask for the raw footage and pay someone else to edit it.

** I also checked the contract and there is nothing in it regarding the editing process.

  1. your not too picky it was your special day and you wanted things perfect i think you should ask for the raw footage an ask someone else to edit it for you.

    good luck

  2. I don't think you are being too picky, you paid for a service and you expect it to be done to your satisfaction.  I don't blame you at all for being irritated.

I would contact the company and let him know that you aren't happy.  See if he offers to fix it before doing anything drastic.  If he doesn't, I would consult an attorney to go over the contract with you.  Maybe if nothing else, perhaps you can get your money back.

  3. Good Lord, you paid that much money and it looked that bad?!?! I would most definitely be calling that company and let them know you are NOT happy with the final product!!! If they do not fix it for you then I would request part of the $$ back....that was your special day that you trusted it in their hands!!! You can never get that day back again!

  4. i think you are and you have to get over that

  5. I would call them and see what they can do.  Maybe they would be willing to fix it...they don't want a bad reputation after all.  If they aren't willing to fix it, then demand your unedited footage and take it elsewhere.  Also report them to the Better Business Bureau.

I paid $2,500 for 7 hours.  But it came with 2 cameras, wireless mikes for bride/groom at the ceremony, slideshows (childhood photos, courtship photos at the beginning and honeymoon photos at the end) on the DVD, and 3 DVDs.  We also get to choose all of the music that is on the DVD.  The downside, it'll take 6 months b/c he's backed up (an editor left and he's doing it all himself).  But I don't mind waiting if it will be good quality.

I'm sorry you're going through that, the reason you want video is to have a positive reminder of your wedding.

  6. Unfortunately, you aren't alone in this problem.

Our video was also terrible.  Get this the videographer cut the garder toss.  He ran out of film and he wasn't prepared with more film.

He also ended up interviewing people that were in another banquet having some other party!!

    It was awful!!

We complained and he tried to fix it, unfortunately it was never really a good video.

He didn't have my husband where a mic, like he said it was going to happen, so you can't hear our vows.

We complained and he tried to fix it 3 times and it was never really good, because he had just missed some footage.

I would complain and they should at least be able to put music that you choose.

  7. I would take the raw footage and have someone else do it. My brother in law started and he made a few music video samples, and I though he did great.

He used slow-motion to capture the best smiles, and it looked good. He's barely even in the field and it sounds like he's on the right track. I never saw the video he provided yet, but it was definitely a nice job, just from what I saw.

You shouldn't settle for low quality, and poor audio sync. That's almost basic. Make them know you aren't happy, too.

  8. I would call back and politely say, "I'm sorry to say that we're both fairly unhappy with the outcome of our video." List out what you just told us, and ask that they redo it.

I cannot believe that any business would charge $1,000 for a service and then give you such c**p. That's horrible, I'm so sorry. There's no reason why the sound should be delayed, and hello? The best man speech? Isn't this one of the highlights of the reception?

Politely and calmly ask that they redo it. If they give you c**p about it, tell them you'll be forced to report them to the BBB and give bad word of mouth.

    That is unacceptable.

  9. I would make notes of everything that needs to be fixed and tell him to redo it.. he should still have all the raw footage.. tell him you would like that too

  10. I am sooo sorry that that happened.

I have no idea what you should do.

I suggest calling them and complaining ( Loudly!! )
