Question:

Am I being tricked!?

I am a huge horse racing afficionado and I am a regular at the local race track.

There is speculation that a man by the name of Clarence has been poisoning the other horses troughs right before the races.

Apparently he has connections with the barns keeper who is in charge of the water supply the horses receive prior to race day. It seems that conveniently, this Clarence fellow always has his horse winning by a landslide.

I'm not quite sure if he has some sort of vandetta against me. He is one of my fierce competitors as we both own trading businesses and I have beaten him to the punch in most cases.

It seems that everytime I bet on a horse, my horse loses and his horse wins. He must have connections with the betting master as well.

I have spent a large sum of money and frankly, I have it with this corruption!

How can I pin down Clarence of his pilfering?

  1. I think it's obvious this Clarence fellow has it out for you.  I suggest waiting behind the barn and hit the barns keeper with a lead pipe, at least 10 times, then put on his clothes.  Then when Clarence goes to poison the trough, show him you are not really the barns keeper and you have finally ended his vandetta.  Tell him you know he is poisoning the troughs and you are going to put an end to his pilfering.  Then dispose of him as you will and put his ground remains in the feed troughs for the horses.

Another idea if you're not into double murder, would be to leave your "local" track and start betting on tracks where all the horses have to drink out of a communal trough before they race so Clarence or any other nogoodnicks cannot corrupt your picks.

  2. Go to Gamblers Anonymous and admit you have a problem.

  3. video tape does wonders, or start betting on his horse.

  4. Well it may be coincidence, but if it isn't, tell the Race Steward(s). This could be a serious problem.

  5. Do not divulge your betting choices until minutes before the race at the window.  Clarence will not be able to water the horse if your choice.  Watch who Clarence bets on at the window, or just let him bet first.  Quit worrying about him and have some fun.

  6. Talk about conspiracy theories. Has it ever occurred to you  that this guy might just be a better handicapper than you?

You're going to need better evidence than the fact that you're consistently picking losers.

In any case, If you continue to bet when you believe the results to be fixed, you do NOT know your limits.

    Get help.

  7. Is Clarence's last name Beeks by any chance?

  8. I'd say your best bet is to stop gambling; even if he keeps winning money, you won't be losing as much.
