Question:

Am I choosing the right makeup to look mature?

I only wear foundation (I have marks from past acne, and a few small pimples) so I do not look younger due to acne. I also wear a little bit of VERY natural looking blush.

When I wear mascara or eyeliner, it makes me look younger. :/ Plus I feel better without it. It looks like I'm trying to hard even though I hardly apply any.

Lipstick would look much too old on me. I'm only 18 but I look 16. I know a lot of younger girls who wear a ton of makeup trying to look older, and then it looks like they are a little kid trying to look older.

Am I wearing the right makeup?

  1. If you don't like eyeliner - why not try a med-dark eyeshadow but use it as a liner on your upper/outer lid and just under and the outer corner of your bottom "lid"?   Use a thin brush and a light hand and see what you think.

You could also use some bronzing powder to contour your face/ neck and "shadow" in the creases of your eyelids.

By your comments, I'm guessing that you are either very fair-skinned and/or a red-head.  It seems that red-heads have a very hard time with make-up (just a touch can look "fake") so try to stay with bronzes (eyeshadow/liner) and medium browns and coral colors on you lips.  Blondes and Brunettes can handle a bit more color on their faces.

  2. I happen to be a red head and I don't "have a problem" with make up.

Try wearing only your mascara, it opens up your eyes and enhances you eyes natural beauty.  You could also get light brown or an auburn mascara so its not so dramatic, but still gives your lashes the full and long eye framing effect. Also a brown eyeliner on the top lid will look nice.

You could wear a nice tinted gloss, it would have helped if you said what colour hair and eyes you have and about your skin colour so I could reccommend a colour. Corals and Pinks look good on most people though.

  3. its all about how you feel on the inside. and also how you apply your makeup. it takes practice to make it so that you look nice but not too "pretentious"... you should probably wear more than foundation and blush if you want to look older though. Include eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara.

  4. well a light red shade of red lipstick wouldnt look bad. you should wear like green and gold mixed. kinda sparkly ivory thats burnt with a twist if you catch me?

just wear a light coat of clear mascara.

also wear like a peachy blush
