Question:

Am I completely screwed?

I cleaned my keyboard while my computer was on.

I took out all the keys and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol...I was a bit neurotic and even poured some directly onto the keyboard. When I put them back in, they keys typed odd things...letters repeated themselves, the keys typed different letters, and some letters didn't come out at all.

Btw, I'm typing all this with my onscreen keyboard.

I know I'm an idiot, but I'm in desperate need of help. D':

PLEASE HELP!

  1. The good news is keyboards are cheap!  But liquid can never be applied to anything that has power going to it. You may be able to use your keyboard after it dries out but you will need to unplug it from your computer immediately and use a blow dryer to dry it out. If you set it aside and let it air dry it might take several days to dry. Liquid causes a direct short in electronics so whenever an electronic item comes into contact with liquid it must be disconnected from power source (or battery removed) immediately until dry. Good luck!

  2. a new keyboard should run you $10 - $15, or you could ask a friend if they have a spare keyboard lying around.

  3. ur pretty much screwed but just like the 1st answer, u can ask a friend or my answer would be to go to best buy and ask them for keyboards and there is this special liquid u use to to clean ur keyboard.
