I graduated from highschool in 04.

I went to a unversity but dropped out in the midst of first year. Didn't like what I was doing. I have a plan to go to school next year (2009-2010 season). I'll will be 24. Am I considered to be a mature student?

Thank you for your time.

  1. It is unlikely that the university has an official definition of "mature student."  You will certainly be older than most students who are starting out.  You will not be too old.

I know a lot of 24 year olds whom I would never describe as mature.

  2. maturity has nothing to do with age

  3. i think when your over 21 your considered a mature student =]

  4. Most universities consider you an adult/ mature student at age 25.

They have special admissions for those students and special requirements. contact your school of choice before applying to any school, it 's very important that you call them before you do anything or read their catalog for more information.

my former college would only admit you as a mature student if you have not been in college for the past 2 years. + the age requirements (25 or older)

the Good side of the mature student program is that you can enter university under a special admission criteria if you don't qualify as a regular student.

if you have to wait another year you might use your time working and exploring the career of your choice. Maybe a job as an assistant in any field is a good start and your college might even give you experiential learning credit for related work ( in the future only).
