Question:

Am I crazy to think that I could just start making my own clothes?

I found a website called burdastyle.com that offers free patterns that you can print out for clothes. I haven't sewn in a long time, and I don't even have a sewing machine (I would of course buy one if I decided to go through with this). I don't have a whole lot of time either, but I figure if I could pump out a couple garments every month or so that would be worth it. Am I crazy for thinking I could do this? Is it really hard to make clothing even with patterns?

  1. like anything else never know if its going to be a hobby or more-nothing wrong with trying

  2. yes its a good idea. I have been sewing for many many years. For my daughters as well, they have nice stylish clothes different from the run-of-the-mill stuff you see out there.  Try the simplest patterns you can find, then look for a used sewing machine or at a garage  sale. Go to factory outlets to find great bargains on fabrics.  Its a great past-time.  If you get too frustrated - give it up for awhile.

you can save a lot of $$$ this way.

  3. Learning and trying new things is always a good idea. It's good to keep your mind active. Never let your brain go into idle mode.
