Am I drinking too much water?

I am 6'1, 170 lbs, 21 years old. I know you are supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces so for me that would be about 85 ounces.

Well right now I drink 8 bottles of water a day (20 oz.) which would be 160 ounces. I know there is such a thing as drinking too much, but I just want to drink this much. Is this ok?

  1. Drink no more than 8 284ml glasses a day which is 4pints. You will be fine if you this much, i used to think the same as you but the doctor noticed wen i was drinking too much water I was developing bladder weakness and he told me to drink 4 pints a day. Take my doctors advice from me buddy

And yes there is such a thing as drinking to much becouse if you drink to much water you could get water posining and to much of any thing is not good for you i should know my dad is a emt and i am not trying to brag. try the address i listed below

    there was once a guy who died from drinking too much water

    our cells are like plants.. if you over water them there cells explode and die. thats what happened to the old man who was running a marathon and he drank like a gallon of water, soon like an hour later he died

    another time i heard on the news a lady in a completion to win a wii game thing. the rules where you drank a cup of water every 5 minuits with out peeing. hours later she won. but when she got home she passed out and died. but at least she won the wii!

    and i heard about both of these like on the same day.. which was creepy for me.

    from this day on i dont drink more than 1 and a half bottles at a time.

    if you do drink 8 bottles make sure your not drinking it all together..

    plus you should be conserving water, not drinking it all up.

    there are kids in africa wishing to get a single drop of your water. think about the rest of the world and save some water for the fishes

  8. Actually, you CAN drink too much, you can intoxicate your self, and (I know it sounds absurd) die.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM, i know this because my auntie owns her own body rejuvenating clinic, basicly depending on your body determins how much water you can consume before it becomes a threat, i personaly can not judge if you are drinking too much or not but aslong as your active it shouldnt harm you

  11. You must pee a lot then. Ok, a person should drink at least 1 liter per day, (about 32oz), it is recommended from doctors and other medical specialists to drink 2 liters of water per day. That is 64oz. A person should not exceed 4 liters of water, (over a gallon) a day. 3.78Liters of water is a gallon, if you could drink just a gallon a day, then you would be fine. now 160oz is over 2 gallons which is at a dangerous level, unless you excersize a lot but it still isn't too safe. Those that exersize a lot or just the right amount have to drink about 1.25-1.75 gallons of water per day, about 120oz per day.

  13. You are suppose to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day that is 64 oz. If you consume 160 oz  of water you may have a medical  problem, see your doctor.

  15. Yes it is ok! Drinking water is very good for your body! If you think its to much then you can stop. There is aloy of people out there who drink more water than you!
