  1. the fact that you were born in the UK, does not automatically give citizenship,

if one of you parents is of British descent? than yes you have the UK citizenship,or?

British citizenship by birth in the United Kingdom

Under the law in effect from 1 January 1983, a child born in the UK  # to a parent who is a British citizen or 'settled' in the UK is automatically a British citizen by birth.#

Only one parent needs to meet this requirement, either the father or the mother.

"Settled" status in this context usually means the parent is resident in the United Kingdom and has the Right of Abode, holds Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), or is the citizen of an EU/EEA country and has permanent residence. Irish citizens in the UK also deemed to be settled for this purpose.

  2. If your birth certificate was issue by British authority.. Yes!

  3. My advice is not to rely on unofficial sources such as wikipedia and to contact someone who is in an position to answer your question officially.

Either you should contact the British embassy/consulate in your country of abode or to contact the British Border & Immigration Agency.  There is a section online which explains whom is entitled to hold a British passport.  http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/british...

The telephone number is 0845 010 5200 from within the UK and +44 (0)151 672 5626. from outside

    Good luck

  4. If your a citizen yes.  It sounds to me like you are if you were born there

  5. Not sure, but if it helps, I cannot apply for a German passport, even though I was born on German soil and lived there for 3 years and German is my first language.

  6. yes, you are. check the site for applying for a British passport.

  7. Yes you are, the law changed in 1983. So you are automatically a British citizen, regardless of the immigration status of your parents at the time.

  8. Owing to the fact that at one point, the "sun never set on the British Empire", British nationality law is some of the most complex in the entire world.  Under the law of Lex soli, in effect from 1 January 1983, a child born in the UK to a parent who is a British citizen or 'settled' in the UK is automatically a British citizen by birth.  The key here, then, is to determine if even one of your parents met the definition of being properly "settled" at the time of your birth.
