I'm applying as a temporary student pursuing a degree at another institution. I'm planning to attend as a part-time student at Purdue University for 2 semesters. After, I'm transferring to another university to finish my degree but as a full-time student. Is it possible?

  1. Most private student loan companies will have a minimum number of credits required to apply.  Some, as few as 6 credits and others as many as 12.  Loan programs are done semi-annually or annually, so you would only take out the amount you need for each semester or for the year if it is at the same school.

Financial institutions have evaluated factors for each school, such as tuition and cost of living, to come up with your available loan amount.  Each school will vary.

Specifically, College Loan Campus, offers private student loans to those enrolled in at least 6 credits or more per semester.  They have a full academic year (Fall/Spring) or semester loan available.  The loan is also a DTC loan product, meaning it is paid Directly To the Consumer, not the school.

You can visit their website at http://www.collegeloancampus.com./ to learn more.

    Good luck.

  2. Each financial aid institution has different standards for eligibility. You should be calling them because they will know best. I know that I'm required to be a full time student but that only means I have to be enrolled in 3 courses per term.
