I am a non-EU national planning to marry in germany next year, but me and my partner want to move permanently to the UK.

Can I get an uk work-permit through my partner's EU nationality (german)?

Do I need to apply to any special visa in the UK?

Would I need to apply for german residency first?

We both love the UK and want to live and work there

  1. yes

  2. to get a work visa for the uk, you either need to be an EU national (ie you'll need in this case german nationality), or have a skill that's in enough demand that it's worth giving you a visa (points-sytem)

so yes, you'll need german residency

  3. The answer above is actually not correct. Once you marry a German citizen and he/she moves to live in UK, they can sponsor you to move & live with them in Germany as far as they have the job & place to live.

Once you are granted EEA Spousal visa, you are free to live & work in UK for the period of five years. After five years you can apply for ILR (permanent residency).

So you do not require any Germany residency etc, just he/she must be living in UK for three months (having three salary slips) and with rental lease to sponsor you for UK spousal visa.
