okay first and foremost, my son is 4.5yrs old and is autistic and learns VERY fast , knew all abc/s number and shapes by the time he was 2yrs old

My daughter turned 3 late march. She knows all her alphabet by site except 7 letters. Im working on her with her writing along with my son

An acquaintance told me shes to young to know all her abc's by site and writing is to young as well. Am I pushing my daughter ?

I know both my kids are smart, my son because his brain is all about visual and my daughter just is but she takes a little more time to learn but shes still pretty quick

if there are any care givers or pre school teachers here that can advise me , is my daughter ahead, should she know less at this age or more ?

thanks

  1. No your not. by the time I was 2 I knew the alphabet, numbers up to 20, and shapes.  It all depends on your child. If she's enthusiastic about learning things keep it up!!!! It never hurts to get your kids ahead! The only reason someone would say that is because they're jealous that their kids don't know their abc's yet. (no offence to your acquaintance of course)

  2. She is normal, I knew my alphabet and numbers and such at 3.

She is not behind though, that's for sure.

I worked in a pre-k for a while.. we taught writing the alphabet and short words and sentences, numbers and adding and subtracting.

  3. Are you pushing her? if so, then yes.

If she actually enjoys it then I don't see a problem.Kids like to learn when they are not being pushed.

It's never too early to learn and it's good that she is advanced for her age.

Don't worry about what other people say...as long as you are not pushing and if she enjoys it, continue!
