I'm using an ovulation test kit in which the second line is supposed to be as dark as the first line.......well, it is definately darker than it used to be but not the same yet.....these test kits aren't cheap and according to methods on the internet of how to "concieve a girl" you have to wait to have s*x.....so that you get a good shot....sorry for the graphicness here. SOOOOO.......that is why I don't want to try doing it everyday. I want to wait til the right time. I already know that there's no guarantee that I get a girl so please don't go into that in your answer. I also have very stringy, not clear but very white mucus. Sorry again for that. Tell me, should I wait another day or two? those of you who know these test kits well should answer. thanks.

  1. I am desperate to have a baby so if it were me I would try everyday. LOL!!  However since your goal is to have a girl and there is some minor evidence that says having s*x 2-3 days before ovulation can result in a girl then you may want to try now.  The problem with opk's is that they may never give you a true positive.  They usually have a fade in and fade out effect.  The line starts lighter and continues to get a little darker each day and then it will start getting lighter again.  For some it may never actually get to a point where it is as dark as or darker than the other line but the woman can still be ovulating if it has continually gotten darker each day and then gets lighter.  That shows the hormone is building up for ovulation.  Also the concentration of the urine and the time of the day they are used can alter the results.  So OPK's can be unpredictable anyways for many women that are just trying to get pregnant but in your case they could be impossible for helping you with your goal.  This darkening could mean you are really close to ovulation or that you have already ovulated.  There is no way of telling how many days you have left until ovulation because that test could be even darker tomorrow and then it could go lighter the next day and you could miss your chance all together.

If you are going to try this method for a girl then I suggest just charting your cycles using your basal body temperature for 2-3 months and see about what day you usually ovulate.  See if there is a pattern and then try according to that the next months.  For instance you may see that you ovulate around day 15 of your cycle so you could then know not to try from cd 14 on for a girl.

P.S. I gave up on opk's months ago.  They are expensive and unpredictible.  Caused me more stress than good.
