Question:

Am I getting a cold or not, how can I tell?

I woke up this morning with a bitter feeling in my throat when I swallowed.

Since then I've had that "coldy" feeling in my throat- slightly bitter/sore, bad taste, feels like it's slightly closed etc. and also a slightly runny nose.

But it's been 10ish hours since I woke up and I don't feel any worse, and there's times I feel a bit better.

Am I getting a cold?

Is there a way to tell?

  1. a cold comes on a lot slower than the flu. A cold will build up gradually over a course of weeks. Whereas if you have the flu it comes on sudden and feels like a truck hit you.

  2. It could be a cold or even a sinus problem.  Both can effect the throat.  If I am getting a cold, it usually starts with my eyes being sort of runny, and my throat feeling weird and my nose will be runny or stuffy.  The next day or two usually will tell you if you have a cold or not.  You may get some body aches and a headache.  If it is allergies or sinus, you may not feel any worse.  Try taking some sinus medication and see if it helps.....
