Am I getting a good deal for a laptop?

I'm a student and I'm just looking for a notebook that won't break down on me and work's efficiently. We have WiFi at my school and I just need a laptop for taking notes and using the Internet for assignments. Is this a good deal: $628?

system is decent & should serve your purpose alright, price is  hmmm

now, some comments

i. that you mention school & taking notes

how important is portability, cause a 15.4" system is not very carry-able

ii. a big flaw i notice is the supplied 4 cell battery, which is pretty small for a 15.4" screen system

poor battery life + poor backup times

just posting some other deals on offer, so you know better

I think that is a pretty good deal, because mine was more than that and it doesnt work that well anymore.

for 600$ you could do better. Check out tigerdirect.com you can find really good deals there. for only 500$ you could have a 2 ghz processor and 3 gigs of ram and a 250 gig hard drive.

That seems okay. Notice that the memory is faster than your bus speed, so that will reduce it's performance. If you can, get it with XP instead of Vista. You will get way more performance out of it.

it is a very good deal....last christmas i got n acer laptop withjust a bout everything yours has on it...i'd say go for it
