Am I going crazy? I think I'm depressed, please help.

this summer really sucks. i've always been depressed but it gets worse during the summer. it feels like i have nothing to live for. i have no friends. all i do is lay around, i don't feel like eating. when i have to work, i do but then just come home and do some more laying around and then go to sleep. does anyone know what i'm going through? and how can i help feeling like this? (I'm an 18yr old female if that helps)

also, i haven't been to the doctor since i was 12 so i haven't been diagnosed with depression. i don't want to bother my parents with it because my mom has a lot of health issues that are much more important.

  1. You need to go out and have some friends. You feel bored not depress. friends are important in life, they're there  to make u happy and when you're down. U need friend.


  2. This is actually not uncommon.  Many people feel this way when they graduate from school and get into the "real world" where there are no school activities, friends to socialize with daily, or extra curricular events to go to.  

    I suggest you try and think of some activities that interest you, and then pursue them.  Maybe a sport, if there is a league around you, or if the city offers rec classes or something.  Or music, or yoga.  Anything that interests you.  That is known to be the best way to meet people with similar interests (with whom you're more likely to become friends) and cure depression.

    And I'm basically going through the same thing.

    This whole summer I've just avoided ppl

    nd all I do is work and sleep.

    Hopefully its just a rough patch in

    my life nd things will begin to get better.

    For now I'll just have to hope it all works out.

  5. WELL DONT WORRY MUCH. I THINK YOU JUST NEED TO GET YOUR SELF SOME FRIENDS WERE YOU WORK AT. START TALKING TO PEOPLE. DO THINGS YOU LIKE GET INVOLVED! FOR EXAMPLE I LIKE TO DO GRAFFITI. IT IS FUN AND I USE MY IMAGINATION TO DRAW A LOT OF THINGS OUT! I THINK YOU HAVE A BIG IMAGINATION TO EVERYONE HAS AN IMAGINATION USE IT! DRAW THINGS. THERE IS ALOT OF PLACES TO DO LEGAL TAGGING GO OUT MAKE ART IT'S AN AW-SOME FEELING. IF ITS NOT LEGAL GO FOR IT ANYWAYS ITS WHAT YOU LIKE! TRY NEW THINGS GO AIR DIVING (I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THAT!) YOU 18 LIVE LARGE! IF ART ISNT YOUR THING FIND SOMETHING!!! TRUST ME LIFE AWAITS YOU IT NEEDS YOU HAVE FUN!   6. heres a bit of tips. depression is serious I'm close to your age and I've delt with the same thing, if you get to the point of suicide or never eating you should see a doctor ASAP but... I've never met anyone or even heard of anyone that has been helped by depression meds, so if your commitd and you want to help yourself  here are a few tips. Get involved! find something to do, hobby, hang out with friends (friends being someone whos a good influence on yourself), stay busy! dont exhuast your self but do stuff to keep you going. if you cant find anything positive to do, volunteer. one of the best ways to be happy is to help others, this doesnt mean you have to signup with the redcross or anything like that but offer to help neighbors,friends, etc.

    basically keep yourself in a poitive mind set, dont let yourself be caught lying around the house watching tv.

    hobbies, volunteering,helping others,hanging out just stay fairly busy and keep yourself on the positive side of things. also spending time outside in the fresh air and sunshine will help temendously so will excercise and good healthy eating habits *not a diet*  eat! and eat healthy things with protein, not so much sugars. what we eat and our excercise has great affect on our hormones and emotions.

  7. I HATE summer. I always feel like I'm stuck at home and everyone else has something better to do. During school I see a lot of people and have a lot of fun.

    This school year I failed math and had to make it up in summer school, which I was absolutely DREADING. However, those six weeks made this the best summer I've ever had. I worked hard and had fun, made so many new friends that went to other high schools.

    When the six weeks was up (it ended august 1) I was seriously depressed. Everyone is out of town and I have 18 days of listening to my stupid parents and being completely bored.

    So I went out and had my parents buy me a bike and skateboard [I paid half] and so far have had an AMAZING time. I go bike riding in the morning [sometimes I wake up at like 5 a.m., other times it's like twelve] and they are so much fun. You see new people watering their lawn and a ton of people wish you a good morning.

    Skateboarding has been such an adventure, I absolutly love it and it's my new obsession : ]

    I don't think your depressed, I think you're just like me, and trust me you can have fun if you put your mind to it. <3

  8. I went through the same exact thing last summer.

    what i did, was try and be around people a lot more...try and not feel so alone. try and find something to get yourself into and try to think about positive things to do. maybe going to the dr. would help too, but if not then try what i said. try and get out and make something. dont let this summer ruin you.

  9. First thing you need to do is sit down and write a list of things that bother you or make you feel miserable/useless what ever it is you feel. Then one by one go through the list and write down a way you think you could fix it. Then right a list of all the bad things you do that you know isn't a healthy or normal way to live your life. Then go through each one and right a good thing you could replace it with.  Now stick with those new things you've wroten down for atleast a week. If things don't seem to improve then you do need to talk to your Mom regardless to get yourself some help. I am aware your Mother has her own issues but I am a Mother and regardless of what was happening to me I would help my child.

    The worst thing you could ever do is isolate yourself. Soon it will become worst. Next thing you know you cant even walk out of your house anymore.

    I am 24 yrs old. I at your age was the same person. And now today because I didnt get help sooner I am a shut-in. I dwell on my issues and give up hope and tell myself things will never get better...why do I  do that? I wish I knew. Trust me it is no way to live your life. I wish one day I could just wake up get dressed and just go out and do something...anything. But instead I feel comfortable in my home away from people wishing I still had my friends but i pushed them all away through the depression because I thought they wouldnt understand. Please dont be me. Please dont live my life. Try those new ideas you write of fixing the way you feel and if it doesnt work please see a Dr. Before its to late. And you know there are places you can go to speak with someone without your Mom even knowing. Your an adult now, you dont need her to find Dr's for you or make appointments, and maybe you'd feel better doing it yourself and not having to have anyone else worry about you.
