I'm thinking of going to Perth for my tertiary studies but I don't know if I'm going to be an international student there because I'm only a permanent resident in New Zealand. Thanks.

  1. hey, you will be classed as an international student, even though your just coming from nz but it is still another country so they class you as international

  2. Yes you are.

If you get NZ citizenship then you can apply to the university as a domestic student in Australia. Unfortunately, being an NZ permanent resident is not enough for Australia so you will have to pay international fees.

Incidentally, that works the same for Australians coming to NZ.

Is there any way you can hold off on attending the university in Australia until you are a citizen?
