Don't leave your own judgments and criticisms because to be honest I'm NOT in the mood. So this is whaat happened

my friend and i went to the mall and shoplifted..we had our own bags and it totaled to over $500..which makes it a felony. This is my first time being arrested and ect. Only 3 of the 5 stores are pressing charges but what i want to know is what my punishment will be. Community service I know already and probably some fees but WILL WE HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THE STUFF? WILL I HAVE TO GO TO JUVY?

again, PLEASE no criticism but I would really like to know what i'm looking at for my punishment..thanks

  1. Give the stuff back and they may go a little easier. You will probably have a record now. Something to be proud of I guess! No criticism but no pat on the back either. I don't like thieves!!

  2. Your punishment will be totally up to the judge.  Based on my experience I would guess that you will probably receive probation.  If you make what the law refers to as "restitution", meaning you pay the victims (in this case the store owners) back for everything that you shoplifted, you will, more than likely, get off pretty easy.  The good news is, since you are a minor, your adult record will remain clean as juvenile records are sealed and can only be opened at a later date by a court order.  If you present yourself well in court (i.e. be respectful, admit your mistake, etc.) I don't think you will see any time in your local juvenile detention center.  I could be wrong though.  However, most courts have much more pressing cases to hear.  I know that some folks can be very judgmental.  Unfortunately that's life.  I really hope that you have learned from your mistake and that this does not happen again.  I'm not here to judge you and I hope everything works out for you.  Good luck!

  3. depends on how good your attorney is and which state u live in

  4. you wont go to "Juvy" if this is your first offense...most likely you will get probation and a fine!

  5. If the store wants to prosecute you. First time offense is usually community service. You did not state your age but if your under 18, yes a juvy record will be issued. All this depends upon what state you live in. The laws vary. Hope you learned a lesson.

  6. You probably will get probation

  7. probabation or juvie i think either or....or they may make u do community service

depends on the Judge, your prior record and the weight of the matter really so it could go either which way...just expect the worst thats what i would do

  8. Most likely not, you and your parents will be paying huge fines, maybe a couple years of probation, and/or community service. You won't just be paying off the things you stole. Since 3/5 stores pressed charges, then you will have to pay their fines that they set, it maybe bigger than the court fines, it maybe smaller.

YDC is for minors who commit more serious crimes that result in welfare of other persons.

  9. you wont have to pay for the stuff if you give it back . if its your first offence thay may be easy on you. i got caught once when i was yonger and all they did was call my mother and she scolded me and we laughed all the way home. but i didnt steal that much or in as many places and people are less leniant now. hopfully you wont get juvy if its a first offence.i cant really say.

  10. most of the time, it depends if your lawyer can cut a deal with the da and the mood that your judge is in

  11. You say that you know community service so I'm assuming you've offended in some way before. Depending on what that was, how you present yourself at court, whether you are at all remorseful, what sort of day the judge is having,  etc will determine whether you will go to Juvy.

The way the law works these days I'd bet a dollar you don't, but I'd also bet you will next time...and I'd bet there will be a next time too :)

  12. You must likely will not go to "Juvy."  If it's your first offense, you probably are just looking at probation.
