Question:

Am I good enough for the IB?

I am fifteen and in grade ten at a school in Australia. I have studied a language since grade three, and my grade average is 87.8%.

Teachers have nominated me as a candidate for the IB course but I feel unsure and scared about all the work I'll have to complete, as opposed to taking the regular High school diploma course.

Do you think I am good enough for the course? Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated

  1. I have gotten the impression that a good HSC student will be a good IB student. If you see advantages in doing the IB, do it. Otherwise do the HSC.

Good idea is to ask God for wisdom. He has promised to give it to those who ask Him. Also, remember that your life can be in His hands (if you put it there). He wants what is best for you so trust Him to lead you.

  2. you sound like a good candidate for the IB. you dont have to be Einstein. If you are confident in your language and a good all round student, then you'll be fine.

There are so many advantages to doing the IB, dont be afraid to leave the mainstream course. Good luck

  3. You are lucky to be so good at language, the words just don't stick in my head.

Don't be scared, I remember being scared of highschool altogether, and then after a day it was good. You get a period of time to adjust and then you are fine. If teachers are nominating you then they are confident of your ability, don't doubt it and do the best you can. Keeping that grade average up will get you very good marks at the end of highschool and entry into many uni courses.

Good luck whatever you do, I think you should do the IB unless you don't actually want to, you will achieve either way.
