My parents tell me I shouldn't get contacts cause it's only for people with a semi-high "grade"

currently im wearing glasses and it makes me feel really self-concecious and I want to switch to contacts but my parents wont let me

My grade is 250-left eye and 300-right eye, am I capable of wearing contacts with a grade this high?

  1. DUDE, you can totally wear contacts! The "grades" you speak of go wayyyyyyy down in terms of minus [insert number here]. In fact, your prescription numbers are higher than mine! <___< haha so you're definitely A-OK for contacts!

When I wore my glasses, I felt self-conscious like you are, but now w/my contacts, I feel great about myself and how I interact w/other people! So definitely go to your optometrist and schedule that appointment! ^^ IT'S WORTH IT...your life will be much easier because your field of vision is vastly expanded (since your peripheral vision is opened up) and people will see you for who you really are, without those glasses!

Give it a try and coax your parents into it = ) definitely worth a tryy ~

  2. You can call your eye doctor.  Those are REALLY high grades and I don't even know if contacts come that strong, but I've got a -2.50 eye (not positve) and I've got contacts.  There's no harm in calling.

  3. Your parents are misinformed. You should qualify for contacts. My prescription is way worse. Most contact companies on there website will send you a free brochure about talking to your parents about contacts.

  4. stick with glasses 4-eyes ha!

  7. Michael,

there is virtually no limit as to the amount of prescription we can fit with contacts.  A good candidate for contacts is at least 10 years old, responsible, clean and neat, and willing to take the extra care necessary to deal with contacts.

Contacts cost about the same as a good pair of glasses and come in many types and sizes.

Your eye doctor can tell you whether you can ultimately wear contacts, but your parents still call the shots regarding your health and their budget.

  8. absolutely!!  they probably dont want to pay for them!
