OK, I am freaking out A LOT now!!!

To start off, I have been pregnant only once before and that pregnancy ended with the birth of my beautiful daughter Lexi.

This is my second pregnancy and I have had it confirmed by my doctor's office. I had x-rays taken last week of my back (not knowing that I was pregnant yet). I would only be 3-4 weeks pregnant right now. My bleeding started yesterday morning when I woke up to go to the restroom a little bit of blood dripped and then when I wiped there was blood on the tissue. I went in to the doctor's office to confirm the pregnancy (I had already confirmed with home test) since there was bleeding. I didn't bleed for the rest of the day, but had a little of pinkish spotting. I started bleeding a little more last night and when I woke up this morning there was more blood than I would think there should be!!! I have been bleeding a little all day today (I have been wearing a panty liner). I called my doctor's office again and my doctor called me back and basically told me it could go either way from here.... I did have a little spotting with my daughter, but not this much bright red blood. She said it would just take time now to see..... I hope this is not miscarriage, but in my heart I believe it is....Any suggestions of hope would help....Thanks!!!

  1. No one can know for sure, Honey.  I'm sorry.  I'm having the same problems...only I'm spotting dark brown.  I spotted some with my last one.

Funny...I just went to the ER the other day for my back.  I was having terrible back pain...muscle spasms. I knew I was pregnant though..so they did an ultrasound to check my kidneys and things instead of a x-ray.

But I did research x-rays incase they wanted to do one.  There are lots of woman who have gotten x-rays done while pregnant...and chances are they covered your pelvic area anyway to shied you.  So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The bleeding is most likely caused by something else.  And it may be just a minor thing.

We have to stop researching it though....seriously....we are going to go insane.  One woman can have the same symptoms of bleeding as another one....and one will lose the baby and one won't!   You know what I mean?  Everyone is different...........and we are going to get all sorts of answers...and the truth is...only time will tell.

This will be my last baby...that's for sure!  I really hate the 1st trimester!  I didn't remember how much until now!

WE need to relax and go put our feet up and trust God knows best.

  2. Just stay calm and lie down on your left side and drink plenty of water. It doesn't sound like a miscarriage to me, if it were you would be soaking through a super maxi in about an hour, not using a panty liner for the whole day. It sounds like you may just be spotting. The bright red blood would alarm me as well, but I think all should be well, since there isn't much, and you aren't in any pain, and you haven't had any clots.

  3. I am sooo sorry you are going through this.  I've been through it three times, and I can understand and sympathize with every single emotion I know you are feeling.  It is an awful thing to experience, and the fear that accompanies the first time you see any blood is overwhelming.

Unfortunately, I think your doctor is right; it really could go either way.  According to doctors in general, usually, pink  and brown blood are not causes for alarm.  They usually do think that red is not a good sign.  However, even more important than color is volume, so to speak.  If you are soaking a pad an hour, chances are pretty high that it is indeed a miscarriage.

That being said: I am currently in the 13 weeks pregnant with my third.  At about 7 weeks, I had spotting, and it was RED.  I was sure I was miscarrying, but turns out I wasn't.  It was very minimal (only showing up on the tp once every 12 hours-ish, for two days) though.  So, as I said before, I wouldn't worry so much about the color as how much blood there actually is.

My best friend's mom bled through all 4 of her pregnancies... like a regular period.  Then, the same thing happened to my best friend herself with her last pregnancy.  She went to the ER because she was sure it was happening to, but by some miracle, baby was fine.  So, all hope shouldn't be lost.  I don't know how common this is, and it wasn't the case for me, but it shows that it's not altogether impossible, either.

If the bleeding gets so heavy that you know it is more like a period than spotting, I would call your doctor again on Monday and see what they suggest you do.  If it is the worst case scenario, there is almost never a need for any kind of intervention at such an early stage of pregnancy, but I'd still let them know incase they want to see you.   Also, just as a quick note, you may not have pain this early on.  My very first miscarriage was around 5 weeks, and I didn't have any pain at all... just very heavy bleeding.

Again, my heart goes out to you and I truly hope that you are not miscarrying.  I will keep you in my thoughts and send you positive energy to help you through this scary time.  GOOD LUCK to you.

  4. Personally I dont think its a miscarriage. I had an xray done just before I found out I was pregnant also, but my baby was not harmed. If it is a miscarriage, then youll have a lot more bleeding and a lot of pain. So for now, just try to calm down. If the bleeding continues or your having severe pain, then you should call your doctor.

  5. I wouldn't panic yet. If you are only three to four weeks pregnant then it is possible to still have a light "period" just flushing out the blood from your ovaries. I know it is scary to see the blood when you are pregnant but it actually is more common than you think. I don't think it has anything to do with the x-rays, especially when you aren't that far along and there is less chance of the baby being affected. So I would try to set up another doctor's appointment to have them take a look at you and do another test.

  6. I just had a m/c and it is possiable it could be dont want to scare u but when it is bright red blood thats not a good sign! I dnt think the x-ray had nthing to do with it and lotts of women bleed during preg. but u need to go to ur ob and get ur hcg levels watched and if there going down most likely u are having a m/c but stay calm untill u find out for sure kus stress isnt gonna help anything! Best of luck
