Question:

Am I having night terrors?

It doesn't happen too often but here's what I can tell you.

I will have a dream - usually some horrible nightmare actually - and I'll wake up, or at least I think I do in my room. I'll usually do the same thing, either try to get up or look down at the end of my bed, but I can't move and then I start to freak out. Something usually happens again in the nightmare, anything from fires, to monsters (sorry for the corny term), to me seemingly waking up again. This usually happens 3 to 4 times before I actually wake up.

Also, another question. I also seem to be paralized sometimes when I wake up. Usually what happens is I know I'm awake and want to move but I just can't. It's almost like my body won't respond even though my mind knows I'm awake.

Do you folks have any thoughts or suggestions as to what's going on? I don't know if this is anything serious or not, but it's just a curiosity as to why this happens. Thank you for your time.

  1. hey, the first thing i'll advise u to ask a simple question to urself tht,"do i have faith in god?" if yes thn whn u sleep ,sleep with a mentality of surrendering to GOD during sleep, develop a confidence tht thr is noone other than GOD,who'll come into my dreams.whnever n whtever i see, i'll see GOD. LISTEN TRY TO FOLLOW A SIMPLE mental attitude in life tht whtever i do or whtever happens to me is directed, controlled and with the will n blessings of GOD,nwht he'll do will be for my betterment. Try to step stongly in these condition,ur WIIL-POWER is the only key for u to over come ths problem.whnever u find urself sticking to ur bed, stay calm n confidemt tht everythg will be all right,GOD is always with me...NNN PLZS SHARE THS PROBLEM OF URS AT UR HOME WITH SOMEONE MORE UNDERSTANDING SPIRTUALLY,PRACTICALLY,IQ...CONSULT WITH OTHERS N EVALUATE URSELF. All the best. I hope i helped u to overcome ur problem...!!!

  2. varios possibilities...n of of them could also be out of body experience...(OBE)....

  3. Well this could simply be "sleep paralysis".  Basically if you wake up in the middle of REM stage (dreams) you cannot move at first, as your body's ability to move is shut off (in order to protect you from hurting yourself or others in your sleep).

It sounds like you're experiencing very short periods of waking and going back to sleep - but like most people you don't realize when you actually fall asleep, only when you become conscious again; these jolting experiences could be minutes or even hours apart!

Waking up so often and consistently having nightmares could be a sing of intense anxiety, especially if you're having problems at home or if you're going through large changes in life.  It could be something hormonal as well (or something bad in your brain chemistry, which is not so common).  You should look online (or at a local doctor's office) for methods to help you fall asleep more relaxed and stay asleep better.

  4. Sounds like "sleep paralysis," which, when you work through the disturbing or lower subconscious images, is the step leading to lucid dreaming:

"The Master of Lucid Dreams," Dr. Olga Kharitidi,

  5. It's a real thing, and a lot of people have them.  I would suggest you talk this over with your doctor. There are specialist for sleep problems and it would be a good idea so see one.

  6. Yeah, I started having those when I was ten

Its like, my heart pounds loud in my ear

This rushing loud waterfall noise fills my ears

I cannot move all I can do is think

I call then sleep seizures----There are plenty of theories on them

One is, if you are dealing with a lot of stress, your body will "shut itself off" to deal with the problem that is bothering your subconcsious

Two--i have also had them in haunted houses...I felt as if a spirit was trying to bother me, or a satanic demon..Almost every time I stayed in a place tht was "haunted" I would get bothered

Three---You could have a colloid cyst in your third ventricle in your brain that is causing this (you'll have to look it up, they are not cancerous, they can just block the fluid from circulating in your brain...I have one, and I LIKE TO THINK THAT that could be PART of the problem)

In order to stop it from happening over and over again before you get up you will have to change position when it subsides the first time

I tried really hard to move once during a sleep attack, like my arm, and my muscles felt like they were shredded , burning, and tingling the next day. So obviously the body does freeze up.

I really have no idea what causes this exactly, but I do know that ppl are capable of having out of body expereinces although I do not recommend it...sometimes spirits will try to inhabit the body and or people do not come back the same person....

Are you part Native American? It seems to happen in this group. I have been having them for about thirteen years now. (I am 23)

When I was 18, I had a sleep attack and I was screaming in my dream for someone to help me. The next day, My cousin, Aunt, and other cousin, in the same house with me, said that they had a nightmare of me screaming for help...My mother, who was 60 miles away, had the same dream, and so did my sister, who was 100 miles away.

as far as I know, it doesn't cause any harm~~~I dunno if it is a cross between stress induced/and/or/metaphysically caused

I have had plenty of psychic and metaphysic experiences while having these, although they are frightening as h**l

  7. i get that too but with me i feel my heart pound in my head and it's so scary i try to scream and move and i can't.i don't know what it is i'm sorry.

  8. for a start, when you cant wake up, dont freak out, try to remain calm and then say to your self nothing can harm me, i am protected, no one can harm me, trying saying it out loud, and then try to wake up. it seems to me that some thing is trying to trap you into a state that makes it hard to you to wake up. you need to be very strong minded to control the situation in your dream.

the first and second dream are related., please be strong mentally and physically.  this will help you control your dreams and get rid any unwanted bad stuff,

another helper is that under your bed, surround the actual bed with salt. i now this sounds crazy, but believe me . it will help you get rid of the bad dreams . pls try it. the salt is a purifier without question,

with the salt you have to do from corner to corner until it circles the bed complete,

good luck , i hope this helps

    take care/
