Am I immature for this?

Question

I recently realized I cannot stand animals. I hate having to continously worry about caring for a cat or a dog. People tell me im immature for this and should never have children. I work with children and I love children and I feel completely different caring for a child than I do caring for an animal.

I dont know how anyone could compare the two.

That's not immature! My Mom's the same way. She hates having to plan things around when our dog has to go bathroom, get fed, etc. I love animals but everyone isn't that way. Theres a big difference between children and animals I think. Don't worry about! It's just the way you are and that's fine.

children and animals believe it or not are two different things.  some people may not think so but they are. so people just don't like animals big deal.  just like some people don't get along with kids.  neither one makes you a bad person.  you are fine.

I love my child to death. I really don't like animals. Just cats and hamsters, and there kind of eh.  I'm sure you'll be a great ma, don;t listen to anyone. They are assuming you would be a good mom, that's all

You can be a responsible  pet owner  by not owning one! Children are SOOO different from pets so for  people to just assume that you won't love any children you might have one day is wrong and dumb.

Just because you don't like animals doesn't mean you can't like children. Children have a completely different list of needs than animals do, even though some are similar. And your not immature for it. There is not law that says you have to like animals, so don't worry.

I used to love animals UNTIL I had children and now... ugh.  I don't ever want another animal again.

You're absolutly right. Children and pets are two totally different things. Children grow as well as animals but children learn things. Children and pets may be similar in the early stages but it's also very different. A child is a human and that's much different than a cat or a dog. If you understand what I'm saying, It means that you have different feelings for your own flesh and blood than for an animal living in your house.

People and Pets are COMPLETLY different than eachother... think of it this way, you wouldn't treat your baby like a dog right? No, so don't listen to people. Everyone is different, and you may just be one of those people who aren't fully fond of taking care of a pet! So don't worry, you are not immature.

i think dogs and cats are cute but they're a hassle and i wouldn't enjoy caring for them

If anything, an animal is much more easier to take care of then a child. You let them out when they need to go, you put food and water in two bowls.
