How serious is my situation? Need help desperately !?

Two years ago in Toronto, I got into a fight with a man and I got arrested for assault. I was only about 17 years old then. I was living with my Aunt. After bailing me out, she forced me back to India. I missed my court date.

I returned to Canada (but this time I was in Ottawa) one year ago and I was studying to get into university. I managed to get accepted into the engineering faculty and decided to go to India for one last vacation. When I returned to Canada (Ottawa), i was pulled aside by customs and he told me that there is a warrant out for my arrest !

I was shocked and didn't understand what was happening. But then it all added up in my head. He told me that he was'nt going to arrest me since it happened in Toronto. He advised me to turn myself inn.

I am very scared, I don't want to lose everything I worked so hard for. Could I be locked up for a long time for being a "run-away" for 2 years?

What am I looking at here?

  1. The best and the only thing that you can do right now is to turn yourself in. Since this warrant is for assault there might be something that can be worked out. However it there was any harm involved this could be quite a serious matter.

  2. This is nonsense...

  3. No you should be fine with some fines. Your gonna have to talk to the court and just tell hey young stupid at 17, I am now in college and I want to make resitution. Talk to a lawyer first.

But if you hurt this dude and he's suing you then you have a little trouble

Oh an  a little Indian dude? to funny. Sitck with Engineering and not boxing

Warrant is for a failure to appear, correct?

  4. Why not contact a lawyer and find out exactly what's going on?

  5. you have a warrant on a failure to appear, you will have to sit in jail until the court date, or until a new bail has been set. you won't be leaving anytime soon since your a risk of flight.

  6. locked up?  maybe.  more likely deported and not allowed back into Canada.

  7. Talk to a good lawyer.

  8. F u CK THE POLICE
