I recently misplaced some of my bank statements and salary papers...

Am i in danger of being bankrupt by scammers?..

Yes, but only because those who use personal information for illegal purposes specifically love bank statements and check routing numbers.  

You need to contact your bank(s) and let them know what happened.  They will put a watch on your account.  I should note that my account was stolen once and $5000.00 of charges were placed on it in a matter of hours.  Bank of America was real cool about it.  So call your bank and let them know what happened.

1. Put the account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-877-322-8228. They will notify the other 2 bureaus for you. It has to be renewed every 90 days.

2. Cancel all checking and credit cards.
