Question:

Am I in the mix to get into Georgetown (I'm International, so it's a bit confusing)?

I'd love to go to Georgetown. Here's some main points about my school life - I'm not from the US so I'd just like to know if I'm relatively in the mix, because although you can never tell with colleges and applications, I don't want to think I stand a chance if I don't :P

Cheers.

- Approx. 3.7 - 3.9 GPA (based on a rough calculation because we don't use the GPA system where I live).

- Part of Extension Mathematics and Double Extension English (our equivalent to Honours and AP type classes; English and Maths being the only subjects there are extension classes for)

- Top 6% of my school grade, at one of the top schools in the country.

- International Student (!)

- Participate in four music ensembles at school, as well as Mock Trial, Student Representative Council, Firsts (Varsity) Touch Football & Soccer, as well as 2nds Hockey.

- State finalist in Model United Nations

- Part of a club soccer team.

- Volunteer lifesaver

- Traveled independently to do a Summer program at an Ivy League school (first time traveling solo).

- Part of school Peer Support program (mentor to younger students).

- Junior Prefect (and likely to be one in my Senior year, perhaps even Head Prefect).

- Work in a primary management/marketing role for a band that has recently been signed by EMI International - huge "real-world" experience.

- Took part in a work experience program at a major company this year.

(I'm sitting my SAT's early next year, so I don't have any scores for those yet).

So yeah - I'm not asking for a "will I definitely make it?" type thing, moreso just am I relatively in the mix? I know that being an international student does help in some ways too.

Anyway thanks!

  1. You surely stand a chance although your SAT and TOEFL scores are important too. I don't know what to advise you because you have already done what you should have done to go to Georgetown. Now it is about the test scores. Don't worry even if you can't make it to Georgetown, you still have good chances with the Ivy Leagues.

    Good job!
