Am I insured to work?

Started care assistant job on friday, they have had no proof of ID off me, no CRB check has been done and no proof of previous experience in the care field (moving and handling etc..) am i insured to work there

  1. If they are letting you work, then you can work. Now if you happen to be a kidnapping, elderly abuser, serial killer, your place of employment would be the ones to get in big trouble for not having proof of all those things on you. They would definitely get sued. But then again, your client would probably be dead and you'd be in prison, so I'm not sure your employer would have the worst end of the deal after all.

    Yes, you're fine to work. I do, however, don't have any respect for an agency that would put care assistants on the job without checking anything on you first. Not only are they unethical, what they are doing is illegal. I'd be finding another job in the meantime. If that's how they do business, I wouldn't use them for an agency and I wouldn't want to work for them either.


  2. If they have employed you then you should be.

    Find it really strange that they have let you start without the CRB begin done, unless you have another member of staff with you at all times, they are leaving themselves wide open for claims.

    The company sounds "dodgy".

  3. You probably are not...More importantly make sure you actually get paid for your work. Companies that do not do things by the book tend not to treat employees by the book too :)
