Please just answer the question and nothing more. I know you can get calcium from dark green vegetables but ya. I think i am lactose intolerant but am not sure because I can drink as much tea, milk in cereal and stuff like that as I want. I like eat ice cream too but I hate milk, yogurt and butter. I feel like puking right after the 3 spoon of yogurt, butter... don't even answer and milk i start feeling nauseous after 2 cups or so... My stomach hurts a bit sometimes after I drink milk alone.. but it doesn't when i drink milk in coffee, tea, cereal, btw I'm 13. Don't say drink other types of milk and eat dark green vegetables. I know that, I'm just wondering 2 questions...

1.IF I DRINK REGULAR MILK AND AM LACTOSE INTOLERANT... WILL I STILL GAIN THE NUTRIENTS AND BUILD STRONG MUSCLES??

2.AM I LACTOSE INTOLERANT?

Thanks, here are your 10 points!

  1. yah, im kind of in a similar boat, my lactose intolerance began to appear around age 12, (im 16 now) I started out w/ similar symptoms (also i never liked milk anyway), getting noxious or queasy after eating dairy......then it started to get worse as im getting older (now i can barley have it at all). You may be developing lactose intolerance, which is fairly normal, so thats probably a yes for the second question. for the first question, even if you are lactose intolerant, OF COURSE you will still get all the vitamins and minerals form milk. when someone is lactose intolerant, it just means that their body can not break down the lactose protines in the milk, but it can process everything else just fine!

If your lactose allergy progresses don't worry, I drink soymilk, which is pretty yummy, and also sorbet or sherbet are great alternatives to ice cream.

  2. humans don't need to drink the milk of a strange species to stay healthy.  almond milk is naturally high in calcium, yogurt is healthy and can be eaten in moderation -but it with the bacteria.  see a nutrionist for more ideas, since you seem to be negative about trying other food options.

  3. Whether you are lactose intolerant or not, cow's milk is not healthy for human consumption. I t contains many chemicals from the cow that they pump into them to produce more milk, and it is hard for our bodies to digest. I happen to be lactose intolerant, and I switched to soy milk and rice milk three years ago. My sons were 13 and 16 at the time and they decided to try it, and they loved it. It comes in vanilla flavor, and if you try it in a regular-fat option, I guarantee you will like it, and it has all the calcium as regular milk if not more-plus it digests much better, meaning you are absorbing more of the calcium into your system. Try it and see. The Silk Soy milk is the best in my opinion.

  4. 1. Humans that drink pasteurized are not able to absorb very much nourishment from the milk because all of the enzymes in the milk that are needed to absorb the nutrients have been killed by the heat of pasteurization.

    2. It does sound like you are lactose intolerant, which means that there isn't enough lactase enzyme in your gut to enable you to digest very much milk. That is the case with most of us.

    3. What you can do is take a well balanced program of nutritional supplements.

  5. Yeah you'll still get the calcium and everything, being lactose intolerant won't change that.

But I don't think you're lactose intolerant, because I get the same sort of thing as you, and I'm not. I just drink this different milk that's easier to digest, you should try and find one like that (I know you didn't want to know about other types of milk, but it is good, and it does help and it still has all the nutrients).

    Hope this helps
