I have the 65,000 dollar enlistment bonus and a 18,000 enlistment bonus for a 3 1/2 enlistment. How many soldiers get screwed with money promised to them. If alot, how can I get an honorable discharge?

  1. if it isn't in your contract, you wont be getting it.  if you fail to keep your end of the bargain, you won't be getting it.  if you s***w up or are found otherwise not qualified there is no way out of the commitment unless THEY decide it is in their best interests to let you go.  they can send you to any other school they want if they prefer.

I must say I am skeptical about the numbers.  $65K bonuses are almost unheard of and certainly not for an MOS that only requires a 3.5 year AD commitment..more like a 6 year one.

  2. You will not get screwed. As long as you finish out your term of enlistment, you will get the amount of your bonus (minus taxes). Every time my hubby and enlisted/re-enlisted, we got everything we were told.

  3. You will not be screwed out of your money in any way.  You will receive your first payment after successful completion of AIT and another payment about once a year until you get it all.  You CAN s***w yourself out of your money if you decide to get yourself kicked out since you will have to pay back the unearned part of the bonus.  Also, if you fail your AIT and have to be given another MOS according to the needs of the Army you will no longer be entitled to that bonus since it is for THAT MOS.  It's all in your contract, any breach of your contract is a reason to get out the military (and stop-loss is in your contract, by the way).  If you don't get a payment in time you have to go to finance with proof (your LES) to get them to pay you back.  That's what I had to do when I didn't get my whole bonus.  Don't listen to the barracks lawyers; if they were so smart they probably would have never came into the military in the first place.

  4. Enlistment bonuses are capped at $60,000.  And may I ask what job you're going into that offers this much for 3 and a half years? I don't believe it one bit.
