Am I likely to win at the casino again on my second visit ?

about one month ago I went to a casino for the first time ever with my friend and could'nt believe my luck when I walked out with double my money!

I understand the facts that the more you visit a casino or indeed the longer you spend in the casino the more the casinos edge takes over...

However what is the likely out come of this weekends casino visit (this will be my second visit) do you think I will win ? or lose ?

  1. The casino edge means that over the long run you will lose, but this doesn't mean that the results of your next visit can be predicted.  You do, however, always have a better chance of losing than winning on any particular visit (unless you count cards in blackjack or become an expert video poker player).

As someone who loves to gamble, I'll give you one piece of advice:  The best way to be a life-long winner is to win the first time you gamble and then quit forever (but it's not any fun).  :-)  Good luck!

  2. Well, because you've already won once, that might make you more inclined to make sillier(is that even a word??lol) bets. i'd say, wait a while before you return to the casino.

  3. You have really not provided enough information to answer the question.

Every game in the casino has different house edge.  Even blackjack has hundreds of different rule combinations that shift the house edge up or down considerably.

So the games you choose to play, the skill with which you play these games, all impact your likely win rate.  Some games have a very low house edge, while some are really horrible for the player.

If you are new to casinos and you are randomly playing a variety of typical casino games, then almost anything could happen.  You could lose it all, find a dollar on the floor, put it in a slot machine and win a million.  It is the uncertainty that keeps it interesting.

    In any case, good luck.

  4. No

  5. You are more likely to lose than win because of the house edge. However, the edge in some casino games is so tiny that if you happen to win it would be no surprise. Of course, what I am saying to you applies just the same to all the other thousands and thousands of gamblers. And what is likely to happen to them this weekend? Those highly experienced gamblers will mostly lose but a few will win and will return to press their luck. The losers wll return because of their belief that their luck is due to turn good or that it was some idiot player at the BJ table who caused them to lose.

But what of you? You don't think like them? You know next to nothing about gambling. You attribute your win to luck. The number of hands you will play (or make bets) this weekend is utterly insignificant to guesstimate what will happen because the fluctuations either up and down are enormous. You don't know how to play but are still going to play for the weekend. You have not the foggiest notion of a betting strategy but will protect yourself by only taking a limited amount of cash. It might have made sense to have brought a large bankroll but as you are fearful of loss of self-control you leave your dough in the bank to earn 73 cents interest over the weekend.

At some stage over the weekend, though, you will get a bad run and your little bankroll will probably disappear, but no problem, you will be glad you remembered to take your credit card :)

  6. Here's something I read a long time ago:

During a survey it was found that most people who are vigorously against gambling had lost money on their first trip to the casino, while chronic gamblers had made a profit at their first gambling session.

People's attitudes to gambling are formed quickly, but they last forever! Be careful - you could be heading for trouble.

  7. No way of telling, because your odds are the same every time you go into a casino. What happened on your last visit has no bearing whatsoever on what's going to happen the next time.

Doubling your money is indeed a very good casino session, regardless of the amount. But don't let it go to your head, thinking you're going to do that every time. You won't. In the long run, the casino has the advantage.

Whenever you go into a casino, forget about your last visit, whether you won or lost. Every session is new and different. Play smart and know when to call it a night. Learn to accept smaller profits, and don't throw away all your money trying for a huge jackpot that you're very unlikely to win.

Above all, never - ever - think of that money you won last time as "the casino's money." The same is true for money you win at a current session. It's yours, not theirs, and you have to treat it as such. People who have the "casino's money" attitude tend to throw it around recklessly. And when they do, it usually becomes the casino's money.
