Question:

Am I mean for saying"the world will always need people to iron its shirts" to people who don't acquire skills?

That's my standard response to people who whine about their lot in life yet absolutely refuse to man up and do something about it.

So, what do you think? Am I doing them a favor by trying to jar them into reality, or am I just another evil, insensitive capitalist?

  1. just another evil, insensitive capitalist

  2. Hey it takes skill to iron correctly.

  3. Well if everyone had the same level of education, I think that would definitely push the payscale down as everyone would be competing for the same jobs. So I guess, actually, everything is in order.  But I do have a problem with Americans not getting a lot more aid in attending college, and yet, because of ethnicity, we give free education to people who will take these skills to their country, or compete with Americans who could afford the education.  Round and round we go. As to your ?, encouragment usually has a better effect than criticism.

  4. I don't mind paying a little more for laundry service, they have expences too.

  5. I guess it depends on the age of the person you are saying that to.  The younger ones may think about what you're saying, and realize they don't want to stay in the position they're in.  If the person is older, and has no desire to accomplish more in life, then ya might as well be talking to a brick wall.  So in turn, you can huff and puff all you want, and you'll probably never blow that wall down.

  6. there is a third option. some people like to iron shirts. i have been a member of corporate america and didnt care for it. if i had to support a family or something it may be different. but these days i am a route driver delivering newspapers and love it.

i once worked for a couple of large financial institutions and hated it. for me, the pressure wasnt worth the dollars. these days i just drive around a few hours every night listening to music and have everyday off.

you look old enough to remember the monkees (no offence). in their movie "head", they kept repeating the line; "everyone is where they want to be". that always stuck with me.

  7. No your not mean your funny.

  8. The truth hurts the weak.

  9. ...hey!That is a skill-just because someone has less ambition than another doesn't make them lazy or worthless>they may find their life better striving to be a great parent-or they just might like having more time to havefunand relax...big misconception on ur part, not a bad thing-just a little insensitive. The world has to have a little of evryone-it's just the way it's all built.=)
