Am I missing anything?

Alright so here it goes after 3 months of planning, buying, negotiating, ive finally finalized my system

Kenwood 50Wx4 headunit

2 12" Kicker Solobaric L5's. (2002 model)

1 Power Acoustik OV1-3000D amplifier

Stats of subs are:

2 ohm, dual voice coil, 600 RMS watts each, 1200W max

Combined total of: 1200RMS

Stats of amp are:

RMS Power Rating:

4 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan.

2 ohms: 1300 watts x 1 chan.

1 ohm: 1700 watts x 1 chan

A little over the RMS to be sure I get the most out of the subs.

What wiring will I need? I need everything from headunit to amp to subs.

Thanks

  1. 4 gauge will be sufficient  also you need to think about getting a crosover so you can take the voice out of your subs if you are on a budjet look on ebay or craigslist  you can find them there starting bout 30.00 bucks make sure to get one with the bass control

  2. sound deadening?

    sub enclosure? ported i hope

if you get a1500w amp wiring kit you should be good.

  3. if your running one amp, you can do minimum 4 ga. from the battery to the amp. make sure you get two fuse holders, one at the battery to protect your wire (cause it's not cheap to replace) and one right at the amp (to protect the amp).

if your doing two amps you can get a fused distribution block and use 8 ga if the legnth of the wire to the amp is less then 2 ft.  make sure you use an adequate size fuse  to protect your items.

  4. This will work. High quality wiringhttp://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3935...

  5. Advice

i wouldnt run that amp at 2 ohm. i wouldnt run it at anything less than 4 ohm. reason is that amp is not CEA compliant. not saying that it will not produce power but more than likely when asked to preform it will produce more distortion at lower impedance and that kills speakers. a better choice would be the Power Acoustik PS1-4000D and its not much more in the price like $30. i have had plenty of non CEA amps that work perfectly when not asked to work at their max.
